ELPIS, Inc., is the non-profit corporation that seeks to buy and revitalize property for Agape Ministries of Charleston. Established in 1991, Elpis, Inc., also is involved with providing needed social, educational, legal, financial and occupational services for the Eastside and other Enterprise Communities in Charleston. Overview Elpis Incorporated was established in 1991, received its 501 (c) (3) designation in 1997, is the non-profit corporation concerned with the acquisition and revitalization of property for Agape Ministries of Charleston. Elpis, Inc. also is involved in providing needed social, educational, legal, financial, and occupational services for the Eastside and other Enterprise Renewal Communities in Charleston, South Carolina. Elpis' Board of Directors is made up of some of Charleston's most prominent citizens and residents of the Eastside. The Mayor of Charleston and the City Council awarded the Josiah Smith Tennent House, a historic building in need of extensive repair, to Agape Ministries of Charleston for these community efforts. More than $2,200,000 in Enterprise Renewal Community and Community Development Block Grant Funds as well as $1.4 million from individuals and foundation/corporate funding sources allocated toward the renovation of the facility. These funds will be administered by Elpis Incorporated. |
